PAPAKURA VOLUNTEER FIRE BRIGADE
History of Papakura Volunteer Fire Brigade
Papakura Volunteer Fire Brigade was founded in 1925 after a series of house fires. The first and second fire stations were in Averill Street. The second building is still there and is currently an art gallery. Due to the growth of Papakura the Auckland Metropolitan Fire Board made Papakura a Composite Station in 1968.
In 1982 a new Fire Station was built on the Great South Road just north of the Papakura shopping centre and this is our current location.
